09/01/2012Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Asst. Prof. Dr. Sommai Pivsa-Art, Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT), said the flood caused numerous damages, especially at the underground and ground floor, such as machines, breakers, air-conditioners and others after trying to prevent it. As the results of property estimation, it is found that the faculty needs totally 300 million baht for the restoration which 280 million baht is now proposed to the government via university. However, 20 million baht will be spent to repair and replace damaged chairs, tables, chairs and others by the faculty.
He added that “students and teachers now are cooperating to repair electronic equipment, tools and machines which were severely affected from the flood. Moreover, the faculty also talked with engineering faculty network, especially Rajamangala University of Technology which was not flooded, to provide wanted laboratories if the final year students need to complete their project and in this forthcoming semester the teaching will be conducted more theoretical than practical.”
“The extra classes on Saturday and Sunday evening would be taken only 2 times because the final year students would not lose the opportunity to find work. Furthermore, I wanted to tell every alumnus in the industrial and private sectors to give chance for our students to practice using the machines and equipment in your places replacing the University damaged machines. Lastly, if there are any factories desiring the student to restore area, the faculty is ready to help” said Asst. Prof. Dr. Sommai.
