RMUTT students invented Shrimp Feed Pellet Mill, aims to cut cost

Four sophomore students (continuing bachelor programme),from Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi,The faculty of Technical Education,the department of Industrial Education consist of Mr.Thaneth Sirisoda(Neth), Mr.Thahakorn Jupao(Oat), Mr.Ek-kachai Maneenopparat(Ek), and Mr.Surisak Klajing(Sak),they  invented  the Shrimp Feed Pellet Mill by having Assistance Professor ,Montri Kor-rapun as the advisor.

Firstly,this project was assigned  to create and produce the shrimp feed pellet mill for home economics.Before the production,we have researched from related information concerned to this type of machine ,and then we started to design and build it.Materials are used during the process can be found in the market. In case the machine is out of order,it will not be difficult to install new parts.

All group members said that from related information concerned to Thai farmers who own shrimp farms in Cha-Cheang-Sao Province and also closed area,it is found that they are facing with a problem of an expensive shrimp food cost,in contrast of having low-income from selling their products to the  market. Therefore,it is necessary for farmers both small and large farms to cut their costs  to survive among this crisis.

Obviously,one thing they can cut is shrimp food cost due to huge amount of money was spent on this.If there were a way to make food themselves,this absolutely would help them to cut food costs.

Hence,we created and produced the shrimp feed pellet mill for cutting cost and also adding more natural substances and essential proteins in accordant with the needs which this can not be added by products found in the market.Besides, farmers can control the quality of making food process themselves.

The machine’s size is 1.20*6.00*2.00 metres consists of

1.Machine body

2.Raw materials

3.Boosting power machine for grinding process

4.Line conveyor(convey from grinding machine to oven machine)

5.Oven machine

6.Pipe outlet (when grinded materials are made to powder)

7.Backet(for containing food powder)

8.Ventilation

9.Machine cover

There are three steps of working process as followings;

1.Mix materials processing which contains maximum at 60 Kgs.each time with one unit of the horsepower gear.

2.Pellet processing, a mill’s diameter length is equal “8”.

3.The same motor is used at both oven processing and pellet processing with LPG main power.

From the operation testing, found that it is able to produce shrimp food at 54 kgs.per hour.By the diameter of each pellet is 2 mls.wide and 4.8 mls.long averagely.Moisture percentage is at 2.5 % averagely.This is suitable for shrimps are aged from two-month old  to full-growth before selling.Now, this feeding machine is not ready yet due to production cost is quite high at 100,000 Baht.Any farmers interested in ,please contact Assist.Prof.Montri .Tel.089-921-4750.
