04/04/2024Phra Phrom in Buddhism refers to Maha Thadapachabodhi Brahma, the highest deity, associated with creation, compassion, and the origin of the world. Phra Phrom has four faces with sacred beads on his neck, each hands holding a lotus, scriptures, and a water-pot, and is often depicted riding a swan or a goose. Chaiya is the goddess of art, science, and knowledge, and is believed to influence the lives of individuals from birth to death, known as “Phrom Likhid.” Worshipping Phra Phrom brings blessings, and he is also a directional deity, hence the various names such as “Phrom Thada” (creator), “Hongsaht” (swan vehicle), “Jaturapak” (four-faced), and “Prommas” (noble). The meaning of “Phrom” includes prosperity, expansiveness, or openness, reflected in Brahmanism, Hinduism and Buddhism through terms like “Phromjai,” “Phrombut,” or “Phromwihaan 4.” The Phra Phrom Shrine, Ta Yai Shrine, is located at the front of Gate 1 of Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi.”
