06/08/2021Phu Thap Boek is home to a Hmong hill tribe village called Ban Thap Boek. The area lies 1,768 meters above sea level and is often referred to as the highest point in Wang Ban sub-district, Lom Kao district, Phetchabun province just 40 kilometers from the center of Lom Kao and 100 kilometers from the center of the province. At Ban Thap Boek, vegetables, especially cabbage, is planted on mountain top of thousands of rai from July to August and October to November of every year. Moreover, when the mountain top is filled with cherry blossoms from December till January, it is also the best season to travel. At the viewpoint, the visitors will witness the “magic hours” of viewing the sea of mist are the most popular times for most outdoor photography. During the rainy season from June to October, mists engulf the hills both day and night, earning it the moniker of “the Misty Town”.
