07/09/2021Tourist attraction in Thailand: ‘The Simalan Islands’
08/09/2021Located in the district of Kumphawapi, Udon Thani province, ‘Red Lotus Sea’ is home of varieties of fishes, different species of birds and diversities of aquatic plants. After the rainy season millions of lotuses (or red water lillies) grow with wild abandon across the reservoir. They are best seen in December-January but will last until March. The best time to see them is in the morning from about 6 a.m. to 11a.m. before the sun becomes too strong and the flowers start to close up again. During the visit, visitors will witness carpets of red water lilies cover the surface of the water, turning it into a romantic fairytale-like attraction so called, “Red Lotus Sea”. Every year, ‘The Red Lotus Sea’ will showcase its beauty to tourists from the beginning of December to the end of February. The Red Lotus Sea Festival will also be held at the nearby Wat Bandiem, Chiang Wae, Kumphawapi, Udon Thani.
