10/08/2011Mr. Virach Hotravaisaya, the vice president of Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT), said that “in 2011, the Student Loan Department have allocated the loans for 6,141 old students accounted for 293,595,069 baht divided for educational expenses for 131,472,669 and for living costs about 162,122,400 baht. Some parts of the loans have been given to the old students who are now studying in the 2nd to the 5th year for 5,211 persons equal to 232,079,600 baht, this amount was separated for educational expenses about 94,773,200 baht and for living costs about 137,306,400 baht. The remains of the loans around 930 persons were allocated for the old students who transferred their credits to study at the University currently, equal to 61,515,469 baht separated for educational expenses and living costs nearly 36,699,469 baht and 24,816,000 baht respectively.
The vice president also added that “after the interview by University to the old students moving from other universities, it is found that there were insufficiently loans offering for the qualified students; there were about 1,479 students, equal to 72,188,511 baht cut into educational expenses and living costs approximately 36,142,911 and 39,045,600 correspondingly. The numbers of qualified students were higher than the expectation about 549 persons. However, after the University had requested the additional funds from the Student Loan Department and it was responded by increasing the amounts of the loans for 4,229,600 baht which it is now enough for the current need of the students.
For new students, they were allocated the loans by the Student Loan Department for 2011 only for 940 persons meanwhile there are about 1,561 students wanting the loans. However, the university will request additional loans for the remains after the 2nd round of student loan interview on July 11th, 2011 again.
