26/07/2022Thailand Research Expo is considered as the national stage for showcasing interesting research works, technologies, and practical innovations to create awareness among Thais, exchange knowledge and synchronize cooperations among related networks. These would let the enhancement of national research and development in a various element of Thailand including policies, society, community, economic and industrial sectors. The event has been held periodically since 2006 gathering those enthusiasts who are as part of various private and government organizations within the research community all over Thailand, including the National Research Council of Thailand. Recently, the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT), Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) held a press conference launching Thailand Research Expo 2022 held on August 1 to August 5, 2022 at Centara Grand Hotel and Bangkok Convention Center, Central World, Bangkok under the concept of “Research for National Development towards stability, prosperity and sustainability.” HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn graciously presided over the opening ceremony of the Thailand Research Expo 2022 on Monday 1st of August, 2022 at 2.30 p.m.
The event’s objectives are to commemorate His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great (King Rama 9) who has been recognized as the father of Thailand’s research and to provide platforms for national and international research exchanges, giving opportunities for researchers and interested public to access knowledge databases and knowledge assets as a way to sustain effective knowledge managements for Thailand’s futures. The event also has several activities for interested individuals. Dr. Wiparat De-ong Executive Director of NRCT, revealed, “National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) in collaboration with public and private research networks in Thailand organized the 17th Thailand Research Expo 2022 in order to commemorate His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great (King Rama 9) who has been recognized as the father of Thailand’s research, His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn The Great (Rama 10) and the Royal Families as well as to provide platforms for national and international research exchanges, giving opportunities for researchers and interested public to access knowledge databases and knowledge assets as a way to sustain effective knowledge managements for Thailand’s futures. The event also has several activities for interested individuals.”
“This 17th Thailand’s national research expo organized by the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT), Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) aims to establish a national stage for Thai researchers to be recognized for their research talents who have periodically been funded MHESI. We would like to show our appreciation for their handworks which were one of the driving forces for the economic and social development.” Dr. Wipada further added, “The 17th Thailand Research Expo 2022 presents over 700 research studies in 5 different fields of study which include:
- Research studies and Innovations for developing economic creativity and innovation implementation including Bio – Circular – Green Economy (BCG), Implementation of digital technology on robotics, AI, and automatic system, development of logistics system, rail system, electric vehicles, and development of innovation-based business.
- Research studies and Innovations in achieving social sustainability through environmental innovation including aging society, safe and prosperous society and disaster risk reduction.
- Research studies and Innovations on COVID-19: medical innovative technologies for Covid 19 including control, protection, and treatment. The technology can ensure better safety at work healthcare workers and reduce any future risks in healthcare management.
- Research studies and Innovations on First S-curve industries and New S-curve industries
- Research studies and Innovations on area development covering theoretical support and practical directions for the formulation of policies for area development.
During the press conference, special Thailand Research Expo Talks were delivered by Emeritus Prof. Soottiporn Chittmittrapap, M.D., Chairman of Thailand Science Research and Innovation (TSRI); Prof. Wachira Kochakarn, M.D., Chairman of Research University Network (RUN); Asst. Prof. Dr. Sommai Pivsa-art, President of Council of Rajamangala University of Technology Presidents; Asst. Prof. Dr.Linda Gainma, President of Council of Rajabhat University Presidents; and Nopporn Cheanklin, M.D., Executive Director of the Health Systems Research Institute (HSRI) as well as “Platinum Award Talk” presented by Assoc. Prof. Dr.Chayaporn Wattanasiri, President of Mae Fah Luang University and Asst. Prof. Wanchai Sutananta, Acting President of Silpakorn University who were awarded Platinum Awards in the 16th Thailand Research Expo 2021. Together, “Deaw” or Suriyon Arunwattanakul, a famous Thai leading actor, was presented as the research ambassador of Thailand Research Expo 2022. Presentation of interesting research works had also been introduced during the talk including, transformation of Bua Chalong Kwan water lilies into proactive environmental cosmetic product by applying stem cell extraction technique. This research was conducted in collaboration of Rajamangala University of Technoology Thanyaburi and private agencies in order to help increase income of local communities. The Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (GIT) developed its very first AI database system to help examine, analyze, and identify the origin of gemstones which could increase confidence for consumers as well as adds more opportunities to businesses. Additionally, Department of a Thai traditional and alternative medicine complied 16 old formulas that had cannabis as the main content. Burapha University presented the “weSAFE@Home” platform for remote treatment of Covid 19 covering home and community isolation measures. Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) presented its renewable energy forecast system while Thaksin university discussed the implementation of research and innovations to eradicate poverty in Patalung.
The event will also feature seminars and forums with to 150 topics. The fair will deal with different topics related to Thailand’s research management or topics on public interests. Further research conference and meeting as well as research clinic will also be featured. The Expo will also be hosting a contest for more 100 projects of university students and the winners of the Thailand Research Expo 2022 Award will be announced.
