05/10/2010A clip of a teacher that threw away a student’s mobile phone in the classroom has gone viral on the internet. So, what are the thoughts of students from Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi?
Kate or Mr. Katerat Moungsook, a 4th year student from the Department of Technological and Communicational Education, the Faculty of Industrial Education, says, talking on the phone is very effective way to communicate. It has both advantages and disadvantages; the advantages are such that it is easy to communicate with other people even though they are not nearby. In contrast, talking on telephone can also lead to socio-problematic in that people will then tend to ignore people around them and talk to them. In his personal idea, “I think, it depends upon to a suitable situation to use a mobile phone. A cell phone should be set on the vibration system or turned off if taken it into the class. Students should pay attention to the class instead.”
Miss Chutima Singharak (Aing), a 2nd year student from the Department of Technological Television and Broadcasting, the Faculty of Mass Media Communication Technology, says, “using mobile phones now offers more services. Moreover, a telephone now has many functions which the users can use to access the internet. However, this also causes problems for teenagers. Most of them have spent their time talking on the phone rather than to the people who are around them. Therefore, cell phones lead to the breakdown of relationships.
Chernporn larbcharoen (Jub), a 2nd year student from Architectural Technology, the Faculty of Architecture says “for me, the telephone is very important because I have to contact to my parents after I moved to the dormitory.” She continued “my mobile phone is very simple with the simply functions. They persuade me to buy a functional mobile phone in order that we can keep chatting with each other easily, but I think it is not so important to me. I prefer to see them and dine out with them much more. So, telephones can help release stress sometimes, but, we should not rely on it.
Mr. Pattanan Chaichawakoob (Poke), a 1st year student from the Department of Finance, the Faculty of Business Administration says, “a picture which I have seen in public buses is about every person has to carry a telephone, keep chatting and access the internet.” He added “in my personal thinking, I think a mobile phone has already become the 5th need factor for someone in this technological era. However, if using the mobile phone in the public area, they should turn vibration system so that they do not disturb other people”
Mr. Thanyalak Sangsawang (Valentine), a 1st year student from the BBA International Program, in the Faculty of Business Administration, says “I am also crazy about technology. I bought a very functional phone because of my friends. In my personal opinion, mobile phone in this era can be used not only chatting but also accessing the internet in order to search for some useful information. Moreover, now students in the many universities also have played a lot attention to using telephones. However, mobile phone should be used in an appropriate time and place.”
Therefore, to respect other people in the classroom, mobile phones should be turned off.
