08/11/2013Assoc. Prof. Dr. Prasert Pinpathomrat, President of Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi, reinforces the message about the future direction of development for the students and faculty members.
“I give top priority to the development of tailored skills and knowledge among our students and faculty members. The main objective is to produce graduates and research projects that support the needs of the industry, which means that our graduates must be capable of systematic thinking and working in a multicultural environment, in addition to possessing the knowledge and skills in their specific areas of expertise,” he said.
Similarly, his vision for the faculty members follows the same direction. “Professional expertise is key to the development of our faculty members. They must be able to manage a wide range of tasks, particularly those that answer specific needs of the industry, as well as pushing for more collaborations in terms of research projects,” he said, adding that the university will support continuing education for its faculty members. “Those who have a vocational degree will be encouraged to continue to obtain a higher degree, whether at the bachelor’s, master’s, or doctorate level,” he said.
For the next eight years, the university will focus on producing research studies that have real, practice applications for the industry. “Each of the nine Rajamangala Universities has its own areas of expertise. Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi’s expertise is in its energy engineering, fashion design and textile art, and tourism programs,” he said, adding that the university also encourages its faculty members to obtain practical training and work experience from the industry.
