Associate Professor Dr. Sommai Pivsa-Art, the chairman of the Council of Rajamangala University of Technology Presidents, along with representatives and delegates from 9 RMUTs, participated in the opening ceremony of the 2nd RMUT-TRM DAY. This event showcased innovative solutions created by RMUT talents that effectively met the needs of enterprises. The expo took place from July 25 to 26, 2023 at the Novotel Bangkok Future Park Rangsit.
The 2nd RMUT-TRM DAY is an exhibition showcasing the collaborative innovations between RMUT talents and enterprises through the “Talent Resources Management” (TRM platform) pilot funding program. RMUT developed this system with the “ONE RMUT” university network concept, which aims to mobilize RMUT researchers and their practical skills and expertise to help upgrade the competitiveness of the target enterprises and community enterprises. The platform was funded by the Program Management Unit for Human Resources & Institutional Development, Research and Innovation (PMU-B) and policy support by the Office of National Higher Education Science Research and Innovation Policy Council, the Ministry of Higher Education Science, research and Innovation.
TRM platform has successfully revolutionized the linkage between university education and the demands of a competitive economy. By connecting promising talents with experienced mentors, the platform has enabled them to conquer complex problem-solving tasks in diverse companies. From August 1, 2022, to July 30, 2023, the platform effectively engaged 418 talented individuals from RMUT in 145 projects, benefiting 135 enterprises and community enterprises. A significant number of 255 students participated in these projects, gaining invaluable practical experience and honing their critical thinking abilities. The program enlisted 74 vocational staff members to participate in creating an understanding of working in enterprises. Moreover, TRM invited 11 international experts to contribute to high-impact projects, which aided participating enterprises in reaching the global market.
TRM platform boasts 769 highly skilled professionals ready to assist businesses. The platform offers 3 comprehensive packages for RMUT talents and enterprises. The basic package is tailored to efficiently solve specific issues and develop new talents. The impact package emphasizes upgrading talent resources to tackle technical and complex problems, innovate new technology, and improve manufacturing processes. Lastly, the high-impact package is designed to equip businesses with modern technology to meet global market demands. In the two years that TRM platform has been operating, it has had a significant impact on attending enterprises by increasing their incomes by at least 5-20%, decreasing technology importing investment from 50-90%, and providing business opportunities for 280 SML and community enterprises. Private investment values in research and development have been increased from 12% to 28% on the platform, as the outputs and outcomes meet the requirements for a just-in-time and valuable investment.
Next year, in 2024, the management team is pleased to extend invitations to new talents from 9 RMUTs and ASEAN universities to collaborate with Thai and ASEAN enterprises under the TRM platform. Our aim is to extend the benefits of the platform to ASEAN communities, just as it has been successful in benefiting Thai communities and enterprises.
