09/08/2023The Accreditation Service for International Schools, Colleges, and Universities (ASIC) is a UK-based organization that accredits academic quality to its members worldwide. The systems used by ASIC focus on the distinctive academic content, goals, and missions of each institution. They prioritize individuality and uniqueness. In order to be accredited by ASIC as an institution, a university must focus on preparing and educating individuals to distribute knowledge to their communities and address critical needs in their country or the world. This includes a focus on environmental concerns and other pressing issues. The ASIC assesses how universities promote positive change in their students, faculty, academic procedures, communities, diversity awareness, environmental consciousness, and support systems that impact campus life, well-being, and safety.
Since becoming the president of RMUTT, Associate Professor Dr. Sommai Pivsa-Art has made significant efforts to promote internationalization within the university. These efforts include the introduction of a new financial support regulation for foreign students, allowing them to become RMUTT scholars and benefit from the academic learning system. This system promotes knowledge achievement and language proficiency for both Thai and foreign students working together. Additionally, the university has seen changes in its ecosystem and in the surrounding communities, with a focus on strengthening university linkages and collaboration. RMUTT has formed partnerships with 114 public and private organizations, universities, and colleges across ASEAN, Asia, Europe, and America. We extend a warm welcome to students, scholars, and staff from our partner organizations to participate in our academic and research exchange programs. We understand that the current international situation may have caused some concerns, but we are committed to providing a safe and enriching experience for all participants. In fact, we are proud to share that our efforts towards internationalization have resulted in a significant increase in the number of international students, from less than 100 before the COVID-19 pandemic to over 300 this year. We look forward to continuing to foster meaningful connections and learning opportunities through our exchange programs.
In July 2023, RMUTT was recognized by ASIC as a Premier Institution in several areas, including Premises and Health & Safety, Management and Staff Resources, Learning and Teaching Course Delivery, Quality Assurance and Enhancement, Student Welfare, and Marketing and Recruitment. Dr. Maurice Dimmock, the chairman of ASIC, presented the award to Associate Professor Dr. Sommai Pivsa-Art, the president of RMUTT, at a ceremony held at Long Beach Garden Hotel & Spa in Chonburi. The ceremony took place during RMUTT International Committee’s retreat, and the university’s Chief Executive Officers, delegates, and Board of the International Committee were thrilled to receive the award. This recognition will inspire RMUTT to continue improving its academic paradigm and maintaining its reputation at the international level.
