OHEC committee ending the establishment of affiliated campuses in Thailand
07/06/2011Mr. Virach Hotravaisaya, the vice president of Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT), said that “in 2011, the University has been provided 970 student loans, accounted for about 46 million baht which are presently being separated into 274 students majoring in social subjects and 696 students majoring in science subjects. Currently, it is found that there are only 662 students now requesting for the student loans, however, the others will submit their requests during the period of health check during June 3rd-5th, 2011 expectedly. Anyway, I do believe that the loans provision for the students are not surely sufficient because last years there was over 1,300 students desiring the loans leading the University has to propose for additional loans again. The other reason of having lower amount of loans is that the University has to be well prepared for the former loan students after it is found that the numbers of students returning to study increase continually even thought they firstly decided to not further study in higher education.”
The vice president also added that “the University also prepared around 150 scholarships; its values start about 4,000-10,000 baht per each per year for the students including the students who are in loan services too because only the loan is not enough to cover all costs of living a day. Moreover, the University has sought out the other scholarships from the other organizations and companies to respond the students’ needs. Furthermore in 2011, the University has allocated 32 scholarships to offer for students who come from 3 south region provinces as well but now there are only 7 persons who passed the writing examination
