Dr. Kithipong Phromwongse, Office Secretary of National Science Technology and Innovation Policy Office (STI) mentioned that this has been the fifth times we have been organized rail transportation system academic conference in Thailand, “TRAS 2018”. The objective of this conference was to exchange knowledge in rail transportation system and also make an awareness of how important it will relate to economic, social, and technology and innovation. This time, we have been consigned RMUTT to be our main host.
TRAS 2018 has been organized order the concept of “Rail Logistics for Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC): Technology & Innovation” during November 29 – 30, 2018 located at BangSaen Heritage Convention, Chonburi province. Reminded that Chonburi province is a special economic area under EEC where mega infrastructures will be invested and built such as transportation and logistics networks. It will be a multi-model corridor connected all transportation networks together such as airplane model, inland model, rail model, and vessel model (all referred to seamless operation). Furthermore, it will connect to our neighbors via high speed train. It will seamlessly link 3 airports together consisted of Don Mueng, Suvarnabhumi, and U-Tapao. It will link to 3 ports consisted of Laem Chabang, Sattahip, and Map Ta Phut. In TRAS 2018 press conference, we have been provided a special discussion topics of “Rail Logistics Infrastructure for Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC)”, “Urban Development and Public Transportation System for EEC”, “The Challenge in Rail Logistics Transportation Management for EEC”, “The Connection through Special Economic Area and Industrial Area via Rail Logistics for EEC”, and “Rail Logistics for EEC: Technology & Innovation”. Our guest speakers are professionals and experts from State Railway of Thailand, Thai Association for Town Planning, Thai Logistics and Production Society, Thai Railway Engineering Association, and Thailand Professional Qualification Institute (Public Organization). Asst. Dr. Siwakorn Angthong, Dean of Engineering Faculty (RMUTT), also shared that as a main host we have the capabilities and readiness for both rails logistics and TRANS 2018. We have been opened new course in Rail Engineering for our students related to policy and governance from the government. We have been collaborated and worked together with not only Bangkok Expressway and Metro Public Company Limited but also another 2 universities in China consisted of Beijing Jiaotong University (BJTU) and Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU). More important, we have Rails Innovation Center in RMUTT to provide academic services and research on rail station and depot. In TRANS 2018 academic press conference, our professors and academicians will have the opportunities to exchange and share knowledge with others in rail logistics area.
