RMUTT produces social media site “Check before Share”, “Young smart gen says no to fake news”

Faculty of Mass Communication Technology Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT) produced infographic animations and created online courses under the “Check Before Share” project. The “Young smart gen say no to fake news” campaign was financially supported by Safe and Creative Media Development Fund 2019.

Benyanapa Pattanaphiphat, Lecturer of Department of Multimedia Technology, Faculty of Mass Communication Technology revealed that the “Check Before Share” website under the “Young smart gen says no to fake news” campaign was a project that aimed to create awareness and   develop media literacy skills that could distinguish fact from opinion as well as differentiate deliberately meant to be wholly or largely false or misleading information on social media and focus on summarizing the content for easy understanding that could actually be applied in everyday life.

Faculty of Mass Communication Technology had been funded by Safe and Creative Media Development Fund 2019 to design and create infographic outline from existing content that immunize people against undue persuasion and false information. The video contents consisted of 3 episodes including education on fake news, categories of fake news, and how to monitor fake news. The media would help educate, promote, and support people with easy understanding information and applicable in real life. Moreover, Faculty of Mass Communication Technology and its representatives had also designed an online course on ‘Ability to distinguish, Fake News’ via RMUTT MOOC. The course would focus on analytical skills, news content analysis, and media literacy. The course which was applicable to real-life would offer detailed information with easy-to-understand content including fun activities and was lectured by Kritsana Lertbumroongchai and Benyanapa Pattanaphiphat, Department of Multimedia Technology, Faculty of Mass Communication Technology.
