20/06/2022After the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation (MHESI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for cross institutional enrollment with the Member Institutions of the Graduate Management Council, State universities and autonomous universities, university students from 25 institutions will have the opportunity to seek knowledge across institutions. President of RMUTT, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sommai Pivsa-Art, as chairperson of council of RMUTs University Presidents of Thailand revealed that he and his fellow presidents discussed about registration system for courses across 9 RMUTs institutions and turned learning outcomes into credits that can then be accumulated at the digital credit bank. The meeting held at Innovation and Knowledge Center (City Campus). Bangsue Junction Building, was presided over by the Professor Sirirurg Songsivilai, M.D., Ph.D. Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, Thailand and was invited to witness the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The unitedly agreed efforts of the 9th RMUTs are spearheaded by Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi, Rajamangala University of Technology Krungthep, Rajamangala University of Technology Tawan-ok Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon, Rajamangala University of Technology Rattanakosin, Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna, Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya, Rajamangala University of Technology Suvarnabhumi, and Rajamangala University of Technology Isan to maximize the system’s benefits and aligned with the policies, strategies and plans of MHESI. President of RMUTT further added, “There were two MOUs signed regarding registration for courses across 9RMUTs institutions and promotion of lifelong-learning using technology to link each institution’s credit bank into one. The Digital Credit Bank was established to provide opportunities for both students and the general public to access various subjects and courses from different learning sources and to acquire work experiences, and transfer and accumulate credits to obtain a course or degree certificate, which represents the knowledge and expertise of the individual. The approach of transferring credits and obtaining a degree certificate depends on regulations of the higher educational institutions according to the ministry’s policy. Currently, the contribution of expertise and experience using technology to help develop the National Credit Bank System and promote lifelong learning. In addition, the system will also aim to promote the country’s manpower development such as Re skill, Up skill, and New skill. We really do believe that our RMUTs partnership will further strengthen each university ‘s expertise and skills and help learners access modern knowledge with ease.”
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sommai Pivsa-Art added, “The management of lifelong learning using Credit Bank System among RMUTs network comprising of 9 universities and 36 campuses, have started since 2019 and have been improved into Digital Credit Bank. Courses are taught either online or onsite. The first semester starts from the first of this July.”
Professor Sirirurg Songsivilai, M.D., Ph.D. Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation further supported, “For the two MOUs signed among 9 RMUTs, regarding registration system for courses across 9 RMUTs institutions and promotion of lifelong credits, all 9 RMUTs have been following the policies of MHESI to help students learn better and see what their talents are and understand the current trend of study.”
