Lecturer of Industrial Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, RMUTT, Dr. Julachart Julapetch and his 3rd students, Ms. Sirivadee Kitja, Mr. Chaisiri Pokhum and Mr. Chanuwat Sutthayakhun unveiled their very useful automatic door-type human body thermometer scanner in 24-hour screening for people or personnel that might be showing the symptoms of a viral infection, such as a fever a well as reducing the risks of cross-infection of manual testing.
Dr. Julachart Julapetch revealed that in accordance to the policy of Engineering Faculty, he and his team had developed their research innovation in response to Covid-19 epidemic outbreak. Additionally, this research project could also help students fulfill their graduation requirement. Concerning the aim of the project, this 24-hour automatic door-type human body thermometer scanner was developed and installed to help screen those personnel and patients who might have signs of a viral infection, such as a fever.
Ms. Siriwadee Kitcha also added that the door-type human body thermometer scanner was equipped with wireless body temperature sensor system. Its principle of operation was to use infrared detector as a measuring instrument while ultrasonic waves as distance measuring frequency. All of which were conducted by sending the signals to the machine sensors and instantaneously the machine would display the temperature in 3 color indicator lights including blue as standby, green as good-to-go and red as warning. In case of malfunction, machine would automatically shut down in 8 seconds. Moreover, this machine was user-friendly providing a convenient and comfortable access solution.
Automatic door-type thermal body temperature scanner is one of the RMUTT research and innovation projects which include mask with polymer replaceable particulate filter, temperature sensitive thermochromic face mask in response to Covid-19 epidemic outbreak, and development of UV disinfection machine against Covid-19.
Currently, the door-type body temperature scanner was already installed in the Faculty of Engineering with the purchase price of only 30,000 baht per unit.
