19/06/2016Air pollution that occurs in cities are majorly a result of automobile exhaust. However, now there are electronic circuits to produce ozone gas for automobiles, which helps reduce the amount of carbon dioxide and fuel.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Jakkree Srinonchat from the Department of Electronic Engineering and Telecommunications, Faculty of Engineering at RMUTT innovated the Multi-controller Voltage Multiplier Circuit (MVMC) with ElectronicPro Design Co., Ltd. He says that MVMC is an innovative product for automobiles. It is small, lightweight, easy to install as no engine modification is needed, and can be used in both benzene and diesel engines.
Moreover, the amount of cars has been increasing, and automobile exhaust causes pollution due to the combustion engine, which needs oxygen to convert into carbon monoxide. The reason why the MVMC was created was because it converts oxygen into ozone gas with help from a high frequency electric field, which improves complete engine combustion.
Dr. Jakkree mentioned that the MVMC is activated via a controller that discharges stable electric through an intermediary shaped like a blade that is mounted in the intake manifold, in order to make the intake manifold react to the oxygen and create ozone gas. This makes the amount of oxygen in the combustion chamber increase by 1.5 times due to the breakdown of ozone gas in the combustion chamber, resulting in an increase in automobile horsepower torque as the combustion is complete. Thus, automobiles will be capable of going longer distances while oil supply remains unchanged. Also, results from tests reveal that the MVMC is found to be 15-30% more fuel efficient and decreases the amount of black smoke by more than 30%.
Currently Dr. Jakkree and ElectronicPro Design Co., Ltd. are partnering with private companies for testing and product design to add value to their innovation in order to prepare for full commercialization. They plan to penetrate the domestic automobile market, specifically technology, energy, and the environment. The MVMC is an innovation that increases engine performance, taking into account the environment, and decreases long-term engine maintenance costs. It also holds RoHS environmental standards from International Testing Service Co., Ltd.
