RMUTT Commemorates His Holiness the Supreme Patriarch’s First Death Anniversary
11/01/2015Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi’s President, Mr. Prasert Pinprathomrat, reveals that he aims to spend the next three years moving the university toward a “professional university”, producing skilled graduates in science and technology.
The three main principles include:
1) Hands-on learning. This means the students will be trained in academic, professional, and social skills (soft skills), in addition to foreign language, communication, and information technology skills. Up to 30 percent of the students from each graduating class must have a TOEFL score of at least 500 or equivalent, and more than 70 percent must pass the standardized assessment examination. Consequently, university lecturers must have experiences in real work settings.
2) Research and development. The objectives of research studies, innovations, and inventions must answer the needs of the industry, particular small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Funding will be sourced from various supporters.
3) Internationalization. The university encourages students and staff to participate in exchange programs with other universities and organizations both at the national and international levels. It will send at least 100 students on one of these overseas exchange programs in the upcoming months.
In addition, the academic programs are to be reviewed and assessed for quality every two years from experts in various businesses and industries. “Every program must increase the practical hours, in order to support our students to have more hands-on experience and skills that match the needs of the labor market and the industry. Moreover, we also encourage every academic faculty to collaborate and integrate knowledge and skills,” Mr. Prasert said.
