30/11/2016RMUTT Offers 81 Scholarships to Aid Farmers’ Children
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Prasert Pinprathomrat, RMUTT President revealed that in the 2016 academic year, the university offered students 704 scholarships, totaling THB 8 million. 81 of the 704 scholarships were awarded to farmers’ children. Considering current circumstances, it is RMUTT’s responsibility to ensure that scholarships offered will aid in accelerating rescue operations so students may continue their education without worrying about any costs. In addition to the offered scholarships, there are also at least 200 faculty-specific scholarships to aid students. Nevertheless, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Prasert Pinprathomrat believes that the scholarships will help ease the burden of parents to a certain level.
“RMUTT’s scholarships include funding for students’ education from their freshman year to their senior year. However, students are required to apply for the scholarship annually so RMUTT may ensure students are in good standing both in regards to academics and behavior” said Assoc. Prof. Dr. Prasert Pinprathomrat.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Prasert Pinprathomra further addressed the possibility of providing an open space in RMUTT to allow farmers to sell rice. Currently, farmers from Northeast Thailand have expressed interest in selling their rice, especially farmers from Sakon Nakhon province, so RMUTT has informed them to establish a group. He also spoke with the governor of Sakon Nakhon province to determine the number of distressed farmers and will set an appropriate pricing strategy accordingly. Nevertheless, RMUTT will preliminarily purchase an estimated one ton of rice as university personnel benefits and as new year gifts for the university’s professors.
