01/09/2011RMUT Opposing the Postponement of Opening Semester
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Numyoot Songthanapitak, president of Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT), on behalf of the president of 9 RMUTs Presisent Meeting, revealed the case that the meeting of universities’ presidents of Thailand agreed the change of semester duration, normally the first semester opens in June to October and the second semester from November to March, to the first semester in September-December and the second semester in January-May – will be effective on academic year 2012 to get ready to enter the ASEAN Economic Community in 2015 and to be the same among ASEAN countries. 9 RMUTs have not yet discussed about this but the president of RMUTT thought if there’s a wish to change the educational systems, it also should be in whole system including primary school, high school, vocational school because these institutes input students to the university. So this issue should be considered carefully, and must depend on the high executive of Ministry of Education. He also added that the better thing to do is to improve the quality of education because if the university is good enough, students will know and come to study.
