RMUTT Signs Collaborative Agreement on the Support of Promotion of Moral Values Through Education with Chagungrao
27/05/2022As a member of Huadarn Village, Mueang Taphan Hin Municipality, Taphan Hin district, Pichit province, Mr. Khumpon Panviset, a 30-year-old man who graduated in Plant Science, Department of Agricultural Technology, Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT) shared his views on how his love of agriculture changes life, “Before getting into the agricultural business, I already had a permanent job. However, my family owns a 6-rai land and I want to make money from it. Since I have to pay a lot for land tax without doing nothing with it, I decided to start changing it into corn sweet planting area. Initially, I plant corn as animal food but I feel it takes too much time to make money because the profit is too low. I started thinking about planting Hokaido sweet corn from Japan.
I did some trials and errors for a couple of time but because this type of corn specie does really attract insects particularly like caterpillars while regularly maintaining the effectiveness of irrigation system is also a must.
On the 6-rai area, appropriate plant spacing and a time interval have been managed strictly in order to achieve best possible results. Since this type of corn can be produced whole year and regularly give its off-spring, in general, 60 to 65 days, good management of production steps including water management, insect management, and harvesting are all strictly required. If you are able to do what I just said I am sure you will make more than 100,000 baht for each Rai. It takes only 20,000 baht for investment, I would say.
Talking about this type sweet corn, you can eat them raw without cooking. It gives you sweet taste and smells just like milk. In case you prefer them cold, put in your fridge. It tastes even better. I am sure that you won’t get gasy if you eat this corn. Moreover, there are pretty much fibers all over the place in the corn having anti-oxidant properties and if you prefer to use them as your cooking ingredients, you just find yourself a great choice. You can either put them in traditional Thai curry or even spicy salad.
