RMUTT Visiting Korea, Tip for Fast Development
29/03/2011When you waking at the modern department stores or on the walking street at the heart of the city, have you ever seen
any people dressing up themselves with very fashionable clothes seeming they are walking on a catwalk? The seamless
mixture of their shoes, pants, clothes and accessories makes them deserved to be in Bangkok, the city of the fashion lifestyles.
From generation to generation in the past, the clothes had been representing only the equipment covering the human body
preventing the coldness and other necessity. Recently in the present era, the clothes have been playing more significant roles
in the society. They do not represent only the ranks, races, education, economics and culture in the society, but some groups
of people also use them to represent the different ideas (taking the case of the Red and Yellow shirts).
Furthermore, the clothes can also reflect the users’ personality even though only for the external appearance but they have quite much influence toward the society.
Currently, many universities have been opening the Fashion Designer programs giving the students from basic knowledge to depth understanding of making their own brand. Wanting to study this program, please ensure your decision because it is not easy to study these courses and some educational institutes does not admit the various numbers of the students.
For examples, the Department of Fashion Design and Textiles, the Faculty of Fine and Applied Art, Chulalongkorn University, accepts approximately 30 new students per a semester. Any interested people wishing to study at the same department and faculty at Srinakharinwirot University (Prasarnmit) extremely need to have the portfolio relating to the fields of study and good basic of relevant knowledge. Also, the 2-year program of Clothes Design Major, the Faculty of Decorative Arts, Silpakorn University, Bangkok (Wang Tha-phra) admits only who graduated in the vocational diploma majoring in Arts and Design. In case of graduating in high school’s certificate wanting frankly to study, there are also massive private universities such as the Department of Art and Design, the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts at Bangkok University offering the similar courses. Lately, they just celebrated their 10th year anniversary and have already produced many well-known designers. In addition, Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi also offers the courses of Fashion Design located in the Department of textiles and Clothing, the Faculty of Home Economics Technology, but if desiring to study much more about the history, Thammasat University has opened these subjects.
The Fashion Design program provided in many universities is being offered with the various limitations of courses. Nevertheless, they will basically start from giving basic understanding such components of arts, colors and shapes to teaching to create patterns, drawings, sawing, fashion trend and business making.
In fact, graduating from the Fashion Design does not mean to work as a designer only. There are many careers involving the studying such as a costumer at film making companies. However, nearly 100 percentages of the graduates, they need to have their own fashion brand.
Taking to Fion Poon, the young female designer from Malaysia and the owner of Ferrelle and Borsette Scarpe brand (the Malaysian brand name of shoes and bags), she said that before having the own brand, there should be firstly finding the inspiration.”
She added that “I was a Jimmie Choo’s student. Jimmie is Malaysian. I want to be successful like him, then I tried to study following him.”
With the fulfilled talent and love in Fashion Design, she made herself achievement later on.
“When I see any people who use my brand name products, I feel very proud, she said”
Do you wish to have your own brand name?
