Prof. Dr. Sommai Pivsa-Art, President of Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT) revealed, “Generally, our university gets its yearly budgets quite limited to employ government officers or university permanent employees, thus fulfilling the available position by the temporary officers is significant. Nevertheless, a one-year contract including benefits, coverages and income offered to the temps is insufficient when compared to those permanents who may receive up to 5 or 10 years. They have been improving themselves all the time and of course we do see their potentials to work for us. Some of them are really good at ICT, English, and other technical skills and that is why we will help them.”
The president continued, “Therefore, it’s our concerns to empower our tempts to get what they deserve and recently we made an important announcement regarding the 2022 employment agreement extension. Fortunately, with this agreement we will be able to hire up to 490 temporary officers and those 178 temps who have already been working for us more than 5 years will receive a contract extension from one year to four years obtaining same pay and benefits as permanent official employees. Even though, we still feel we could something more for them but at least this could make them feel more financially secured. This agreement will become effective from the 1st of October, 2022.”
