“Thanyaburi Statement” to Support International Collaborations in
Vocational and Technological Education
On the occasion of its 38th founding anniversary, Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi hosted an international forum on The Role of Technological Universities for Sustainable Future Workforce. The forum was attended by 47 management-level representatives from 15 countries, including ASEAN’s universities of technology and members of Regional Cooperation Platform (RCP) on Vocational Teacher Education and Training in Asia.
RMUTT’s President, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Numyoot Songthanapitak, presided over the forum, with seven keynote speakers including Mr. Etienne Clement (Deputy Director UNESCO Bangkok), Prof. Dr. Spoettl (ITB Bremen), Dr. Thomas Schroeder (RCP Secretariat), Prof. Sang Hyup Shin (Kyung Hee University, Korea), Dr. Naim Yaakub (Director General CPSC), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nantana Gajaseni (AUN Executive Director) and Mr. Alias Haji Abu Bakar (Centre Director SEAMEO VOCTECH).
The forum ended with an agreement or Thanyaburi Statement, signed by members of the Colombo Plan Staff College for Technician Education (CPSC), SEAMEO VOCTECH, ASEAN University Network (AUN), UNESCO Bangkok, RCP, and RUMTT President.
The main content of Thanyaburi Statement is as follows:
– Increase the exchange of “best-practice” knowledge among the ASEAN members
– Include vocational and technological education as an academic program in higher education institutions as well as collaborating on the publication and dissemination of research papers specific to this field of study within ASEAN
– Increase public awareness on the significance of vocational and technological education
– Support publications of research in the vocational and technological education field
