“Handing the mother’s hand to journey around Thailand, stimulating Thai economic” Good activity from RMUTT
30/09/2010This column today would like to present the study of experimentation of Gas AKon usage to extend the life span of orchid, owning to Mr. Watcharakorn raumpan, together with Miss Chasinee Tangkum, students from Faculty of Agricultural Engineering, Rajamangala University of technology Thanyaburi. Hereby, there is a Mr. Warinthorn Yimyong being as their project advisor. The owners of project told that “there are many experimentations on keeping orchid in PP bags (Polypropylene) with adding Gas A Korn for 20, 40 and 60 seconds respectively comparing to another one which is packed in the PP bags but not with Gas AKon. The storage of three packages are kept in 13 Celsius and 90-95% of Relative Humidity”
The result has discovered that both of the methods (package with gas and packages with no gas) can keep the orchid lasting to 20 days. But, the point after the experimentation is that the orchid with has been kept with gas can be last long mostly for 20 days. Adding gas into the package for 60 seconds can reduce the deterioration of the orchid flowers as mostly.
Furthermore, adding the gas for 20 seconds in the package can slow the flower color change. For information please contact 08-1851-3382.
