RMUTT Collaborates with NIA to Support Green Innovation Businesses, Aiding Thai Entrepreneurs in Fiscal Year 2025
11/02/2025The National Innovation Agency (Public Organization), or NIA, in collaboration with Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT), organized an Open House event for the “Platform for Promoting Innovation Businesses Essential for National Development” for the fiscal year 2025. The event aimed to provide opportunities for entrepreneurs in the fields of clean energy, circular economy, and low-carbon economy to receive funding support of up to 5 million baht, along with one-on-one consultations from experts. This initiative aims to accelerate the commercialization of Thai innovations. The event saw participation from over 160 Thai entrepreneurs at The Berkeley Hotel Pratunam, Bangkok.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sommai Pivsa-Art, President of RMUTT, revealed that this event extends the collaboration between RMUTT and NIA to support the development of high-potential innovation businesses and concretely drive research and technology to market. This is particularly focused on areas related to clean energy and the circular economy, which are key directions for sustainable national development, emphasizing efficient resource use, waste reduction, and promoting circular economy concepts. These align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Supporting businesses focused on green innovation and clean energy also helps reduce environmental impact, enhance citizens’ quality of life, and create balanced economic growth. This will serve as a crucial foundation for Thailand’s transition to a low-carbon economy in the future, alongside promoting and supporting Thai entrepreneurs in conducting business.
Additionally, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kiattisak Sangpradit, Director of the Institute of Research and Development at RMUTT, added that beyond the funding opportunity, this event provided a platform for entrepreneurs to hear firsthand experiences from past grant recipients and receive in-depth consultation from experts. This helps them develop their innovation projects more effectively and in line with evaluation criteria. It also creates a business network among entrepreneurs, investors, and supporting agencies, which is a key factor in market expansion and enhancing the competitiveness of Thai innovation businesses.
The event was honored by Dr. Surat Supajatura, Deputy Director of the National Innovation Agency (Public Organization), who elaborated on NIA’s role in supporting innovation businesses, emphasizing financial platforms that help Dr. Surat Supachatturat, Deputy Executive Director of the National Innovation Agency (Public Organization) entrepreneurs access funding sources more easily. Meanwhile, Dr. Ampon Apathanagorn, Senior Innovation Development Manager, presented the innovation business promotion platform for fiscal year 2025, which helps entrepreneurs access funding, consultation, and business networks. Other interesting activities included guidelines for applying for funding, sharing experiences from grant recipients, and one-on-one consultations to help entrepreneurs develop their projects and increase their competitive capabilities.
