RMUTT’s Department of Home Economics showcases Craft-Academic works, “Inheritance of Art to Community of Innovation”

Presiding over the grand opening of “Inheritance of Art to Community of Innovation” Exhibition hosted by Department of Home Economics Technology, Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT) at Talabangkla Riviera Resort, Chachoengsao was Mr. Chaonate Yimprasert, the Deputy Governor of Chachoengsao, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sommai Pivsa-Art, President of Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT) who also delivered the opening remarks and keynote address at the opening ceremony, along with other guests of honor: Dr. Weerasak Wongsomba, Chairman of University Council of Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi ; Dr. Chumpol Phornprapha, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Somchet Thinaphong , Member of RMUTT University Council; and executive members. Included in the activities, Jakapong Pittisumrit, Managing Director of Suvarn Gleaw Thong Co., Ltd provided his education funding for school students in Chachoengsao province. Assistant Professor Dr. Sakorn Chonsakorn, Dean of Home Economics Technology, RMUTT explained more about the objectives of “Inheritance of Art to Community of Innovation” which is as part of Culture and Arts of Home Economics Technology scheme, “aims to provide participants with novel research and art works of students and researchers of Home Economics Technology Department to emphasize on the significance of preserving and promoting Thailand’s cultural heritage including art, local wisdoms, and many others. Home Economics Technology enables students to acquire basic and fundamental knowledge and skills necessary for an independent life through practical and hands-on activities in Home Economic profession; to instill the knowledge of being Home Economics Technology innovator, have the students take up academic research to develop their academic skills and practical knowledge that help raise the quality of life of the individual and his/her country. Besides, academic servicing and promotion of art and culture based on Home Economics perspective will help sustain value of art and culture in accordance to the policy of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) and Thailand Qualification Frame Work: TQF policies. Thus, we, Home Economics Technology is proud to hold this grand exhibition that provides participants with novel research and art works of Home Economics Technology in order to publicize university students and researchers of Home Economics Technology Faculty. Assistant Professor Vijit Sonhom further revealed, “Home Economics knowledge is a type of Tacit knowledge meaning skills, ideas and experiences that are possessed by people but are not codified and may not necessarily be easily expressed. Hopefully, we would be able to pass on the knowledge to the new generation, to make use of arts, culture and local wisdom to develop a better Thailand. Regarding the locals who obtain local wisdom caught finding across Thailand, we hope that we could ask them to assist us maximize Thailand’s social and business values that benefit Thai people.
During the three-day “Inheritance of Art to Community of Innovation” exhibition, Departments of Textiles and Clothing showcased their textile works under the concept of “Textiles to Community of Innovation” while Department of Foods and Nutrition displayed their expertise under the concept of Food for Community of Innovation, and Home Economics Studies shows their skills with the concept of “Inherit Artworks to Sustain Local Wisdom”. In addition, Family and Child Development Department demonstrated their research works on Early Childhood Instructional Materials whereas, Graduate School of Home Economics Technology presented their works under the notion of “Graduates Create Innovations for the Sustainability of Home Economics Technology”. Faculty of Mass Communication, Faculty of Fine Arts, Faculty of Integrative Medicine, Faculty of Agricultural Technology, and, Faculty of Engineering had also exhibited their research works as well.
