The hydraulic set moves the patient from the car
Moving patients or disabled people from one location to the another as needed is difficult. Many patients may require at least 1 or 2 caregivers to move, including lifting the patient up and down from the car, which requires careful handling. In order to prevent the patient from getting hurt or receiving additional injuries and avoid causing the patient to touch or bump into the car, therefore a collaboration to create and develop a hydraulic system for moving patients from car, “PMK Hydraulic Car Lift”, is initiated.
Collaborative work from higher education institutions and hospitals is jointly developed by Asst. Prof. Dr. Dechrit Manitham, Head of Mechatronics Engineering, Faculty of Industrial Education, RMUTT, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Benjakul Muangmee, Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University Under Royal the patronage along with Lt. Col. Asst. Prof. Arom Khunphaket and Ph.D. Assoc. Prof. Sutee Phanichakul, Phramongkutklao College of Medicine, Phramongkutklao Hospital.
Col. Asst. Prof. Dr. Arom reveals that the development of hydraulic lifting systems for moving patients from cars, in addition to the suitability for patients or disabled, especially for patients who have to use a wheelchair, it is also conforms to families with individuals in the elderly group who want to travel, rest or see a doctor. Which will help facilitate mobility, including safety and decrease the need to use many carers. Hydraulic lifting system is designed to be used with cars such as van because the car size is appropriate that wide enough to support the patient’s need. Also, this system can be easily installed. The mechanism or technique is not complicated and has low maintenance costs. It is soft, precise and designed for wheelchair patients.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Dechrit adds that PMK Hydraulic Car Lift or hydraulic system lift sets for moving patients from cars is using hydraulic systems that can hold up to 250 kilograms of weight. It is consisting of hydraulic pumps, hydraulic piston, and equipment for lifting and moving patients. When require to move the patient to the car, simply press the button to move down. The mechanism set will always move down to the floor in a horizontal position. Then the patient or caretaker pushed the cart to the moving area of the steel grating. After that, press the button to move up. Patient is lifting and moving equipment will always move up and stay flat with the car’s trunk. The patient is able to manually push the electric wheelchair into the car. The last step of the system, all devices are stored in the car’s trunk and repeat the same steps, if you want to move the patient from the car. Making it convenient and fast to move patients from the car itself. The system is now in the process of developing a more convenient usage and adding more functionality.
It is considered as an important aid to enhance the quality of life for patients or the disabled to be comfortable. And can smoothly participate with family and society.
