Chula held to 1-1 draw with Thammasat in Chang U-CHAMPION CUP 2022

Prof. Dr. Sommai Pivsa-Art, President of Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT), presided over the official opening ceremony of the 14th “Chang U-CHAMPION CUP 2022” together with Ajarn Arkom Samutkojorn, Tournament Director, Mr. Pasaworn Petarangsi, Manager of Relationship Development of Thai Beverage Public Company Limited, and distinguished guests at RMUTT Football Stadium.
The President of RMUTT, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sommai Pivsa-Art revealed that “Chang U-CHAMPION CUP 2022” has helped showcase how effective football sport can be as a vehicle for higher education institutions to strengthen collaboration among themselves but also to create greater opportunities to play and boost participation numbers and create an environment for all Thailand-qualified talent to pursue and fulfil their dreams in Thailand’s football national team. He also would like to pay tributes to the efforts of those who took their parts in organizing the tournament particularly Thai Beverage Public Company Limited who had been the tournament’s excellent supporter. “Not only this tournament will help create an atmosphere where participants are motivated to show respect, play fair, and demonstrate good sportsmanship but will also help build relationships among university representatives and promote an understanding of opportunities to get involved in sport and physical activity”, revealed The President.
Tournament Director Ajarn Arkom Samutkojorn further added that this tournament was aimed to promote youth engagement and awareness through sports and build lasting friendship among both private and government institution representatives and make them feel part of a wider community. There were 18 football teams participating in the championship including Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi, Chulalongkorn University, Thammasat University, Kasetsart University, King Monkut’s University, North Bangkok, Silapakorn University, Rajamangala University of Technology Rattanakosin, Dhurakij Pundit University, North Bangkok University, Krungthep Thonburi University, Thonburi University, Rajapruek University, Kasembundit University, Pathum Thani University Rattanabundit University, and Bangkok University. The tournament gets started on April 19th to May 6th, 2022
The 16 institution teams affiliated to Higher Education competing at the tournament were divided into two groups- Group A and B – for the first phase. The top teams from each group will qualify for the knockout stages. The two winners will face off in the final round. Winner will be receiving trophy and education scholarships. There are also other prizes awarded which include Player of the Tournament, Best Scorer(s), and Sportsmanship Team for the total prize pool of 500,000 THB.
