02/12/2021The award presentation ceremony of “Enterprise Award, Student Support and Inclusivity Award was successfully held on the 1st Floor of 48th Birthday Chalermprakiet Building at Mangala Ubon Auditorium, Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT). Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sommai Pivsa-Art, President of RMUTT acting as RMUTT representative, received a Fellowship Award 2021 for Leadership in Enterprise in Education, Student Support Award, Enterprise Award and Inclusivity Award from Accreditation Service for International Schools, Colleges and Universities (ASIC) represented by Dr.Maurice Dimmock.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sommai Pivsa-Art, President of RMUTT revealed that he was deeply pleased and honored to receive the prestigious awards from ASIC. Because of the dedication of RMUTT faculties and staffs, the university was able to transfer useful knowledge to the local community as well as encourage students to take responsibility, apply their classroom knowledge for practical use in the community, and use their soft-skills to communicate effectively with the community. Therefore, the president truly believed receiving the awards was a proof of success for both faculties of RMUTT and its students. Not only the university won national awards but also the international ones. Not only do the national awards and honors recognize the outstanding accomplishments of the university but the international awards also reflect distinguished contributions to the world.
Before receiving the Student Support Award, the written proposal for entry had been submitted since 2020 by RMUTT with the purpose of assisting student financially, offering Covid-19 vaccination, and providing psychological supports and having food assistance programs. For Enterprise Award, development of banana and bamboo fiber for woven products” research was proposed in order to help drive the local economy –providing jobs and better income as well as improving the lives of residents. Lastly “the Inclusivity Award”, which was given to RMUTT in recognition of promoting student equality among physically challenged students as well as those who had low-income. The university had been supporting student funds, providing phycological support clinic, finding jobs for students, handing students free health insurance, and offering international student exchange program. Moreover, Assistant Professor Dr, Boontida Uapipatanakul, Vice Director of Office of Academic Resources and Information Technology won additional two special awards including “Outstanding Women in Education Award and Outstanding Contribution to International Education”. The President of RMUTT further revealed, “To win these awards, it is a step-by-step process from start to finish. We not only are committed to ongoing evaluation and review in compliance with ASIC’s indicator but also assess ourselves both online and offline through interviews with our faculties and those who are involved including our students. Whatever we are lacking, we attempt to fulfil those needs to develop and meet the standard.”
