15/02/2021RMUTT students from the Faculty of Home Economics Technology, Department of Arts and Crafts, Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT), proudly creates 10,000 bouquet structures for Thailand’s leading donut company, “Mister Donuts”. Mister Donut are holding a campaign titled “Mister Donut Valentine Bouquet” where they are releasing valentine doughnut bouquet as love gifts themed around the magic of love during valentine season.
Sineenart Sukthaworn, Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Mister Donut revealed that a campaign titled “Mister Donut Valentine Bouquet” is offering Mister Donut celebrating the romantic holiday with limited-time love gifts as well as supporting RMUTT students (earning while learning).
Asst. Prof. Dr. Sakorn Chonsakorn, Dean of Home Economics Technology further added, “One of our past students who right now is working for Mister Donut company has contacted us to promote their campaign titled “Mister Donut Valentine Bouquet”. Decorating bouquet with doughnuts instead of roses, Mister Donut company realizes the sophistication and importance of the making, they asked us to help create a donut-made bouquet. Graciously, we accept the offer in order to help our Home Economics Technology students not only to earn their incomes during the Covid-19 pandemic but also help their families as well and thus, we offer all four-year students to participate the program.
In addition, Assistant Professor Vijit Sonhom, instructor of Arts and Crafts Department also suggested that the construction of the bouquet structure began with a red hard paper structure to give it shape and, at the same time, foam is used to support the flowers making from donuts. It’s a simple structure that was created by using techniques like folding, plaiting or binding with adhesive tape. In order to create romantic experience of love giver and receiver, the bouquet was further strengthened by adornment with red ribbons and pieces of decorative paper. The construction of bouquet had taken roughly around 5 to 10 minutes to complete.
A third-year student, Mr. Vasupol Chimpala nicknamed “Moss” explained that he was responsible for managing the whole process from calculation of product price, material price, equipment price, etc. to collaboration with Mister Donut’s company representatives and in particular, distribution of work assignments. During the time of Covid-19 pandemic, Moss added, “It was really hard for me to assign my friends works even though they were staying nearby the university. Normally, we would be assisting our teachers making the floral bouquet but right now there have not been any jobs for us to do at all. I think it’s because of Covid-19 situation. However, I feel really grateful to have been as part of making this valentine love gifts, not only it will improve my flower arrangement skills, but also earning us income as well.
A junior year RMUTT student, Mr. Teerphon Chuen-Arom described about himself that he would earn his incomes by creating heart-shaped bouquet structures as part-time jobs for the former graduates. At present, he was unable to find any income at all but with the helping hands from Mister Donut, he was able to continue what he did best by creating doughnut made floral bouquets for 300 branches of Mister Donut during the beautiful and lovely valentine season. He was really joyful to learn all the skills even before the actual job. He really felt appreciated to see himself improve, enabling to understand the whole management process including distribution of assignments, management of crafts and arts including materials, product price, profits, and time. It was really fortunate for him to be working with Mister Dunkin Donut. Hopefully he could make use of all the knowledge he had got from and was definitely happy to work and earn extra incomes to assist his family financially.
