On March 4, 2020 at 10.00 a.m., Assist. Prof. Dr. Sommai Pivsa-Art, acting on behalf of the President of Rajamangala University of Technology (RMUTT) graciously presided over a launch ceremony for a volunteering campaign to produce hand-gel alcohol and face mask protecting its students and academic personnel from Covid 19 virus infection at the Vitoria Room, Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi. More than 300 people, including university’s executives, instructors, academic personnel and students attended the event had been taken precautionary measures to check for any suspicious medical conditions that were encountered including fever.
Assist. Prof. Dr. Sommai Pivsa-Art, acting on behalf of the President of Rajamangala University of Technology (RMUTT) revealed that as the number of cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to rise so does the demand for hand sanitizer, one of the most essential items of all and thus, the volunteering campaign was held to help protect university’s executives, instructors, academic personnel and students from coronavirus (COVID-19) producing washing gels which contain 70% alcohol concentration with the assistance from instructors and students from the College of Thai Traditional Medicine and Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering. Moreover, representatives including students and lecturers from the Department of Textile Engineering held a workshop to teach the public to make their own face masks to wear protecting them from the harmful virus. During the volunteering workshop, 400 bottles of 300 gram hand sanitizers and more than 300 face masks were produced.
.According to the severe global outbreak of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), RMUTT University required everyone including executives, instructors, academic personnel and students to follow measures announced as a guideline for organizing or holding educational activities within the university by the Department of Disease Control, MOPH at (https://ddc.moph.go.th/viralpneumonia/introduction.php. in conjunction with the urgent letter of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation under articles No. 0226.5 / 127, dated January 28, 2020. With urgent response to the COVID-19 situation, RMUTT had taken its measures to protect students who compete for university places at Rajamangala University campus by motoring them with thermal image camera and providing them with hand sanitizer.
