RMUTT Drives Sustainable Water Management Innovation in Collaboration with European Partners Under the NEUTRAL4GS Project
28/04/2025Research Collaboration forSustainable Global Wastewater Treatment Innovation Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT) has joined
an international research initiative under the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions Staff Exchanges program. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sommai Pivsa-Art led the RMUTT research team to participate in the kick-off meeting for the research project “Innovating with nature for sustainable water management in the global south (NEUTRAL4GS).” The project has received funding of 740,600 euros from the European Union through the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions Staff Exchanges program. It represents a collaboration between 8 organizations from 7 countries, including academic institutions and business sectors from the European Union (Czech Republic, Denmark, Portugal, and Italy), along with partners from Indonesia, Colombia, and Thailand (represented by RMUTT). The project spans 48 months from January 2025 to December 2028, focusing on urban water management development in developing countries. RMUTT serves as a case study for hospital wastewater treatment systems in Thailand and leads the research unit for holistic technology sustainability assessment and scale-up potential evaluation. The project implements mathematical scale-up modeling to predict treatment system efficiency when transitioning from laboratory to industrial scale. It integrates Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to analyze environmental, economic, and social impacts throughout the technology lifecycle, helping reduce investment risks and costs while optimizing operational efficiency. This research aims to elevate Thai wastewater treatment technology to international standards while developing environmentally sustainable knowledge and innovation.
