Faculty of Science and Technology Rajamangala University of Technology (RMUTT) organized a helping hand research project for Bueng Ba community, Nong Suea District Pathum Thani Province to assists them produce organic vegetables with bio-extracts applying with mechanism method of bio-stimulation of microbes that were mixed with bio-based fertilizers. Under supervision and instruction of Assistant Professor Dr. Sukarn Ratanalertnuson, Lecturer in the Department of Biology, basic knowledge and tips on how to produce organic vegetables with bio fertilizers, bio extracts, and nano microbes (New revised formula) was delivered to interested farmers and ranchers in order to increase their crop productivity, to reduce their production costs, as well as to meet the EU standards. In addition, students had their chance to integrate their classroom knowledge of ‘Living Environment’ course with actual practice. Students were able to apply their knowledge to help reduce accumulation of nitrates and other harmful heavy metal substances as well as to implement their knowledge of nano-biological fertilizer to help the locals in Bueng Ba community, Nong Suea District Pathum Thani Province,
Asst. Prof. Dr. Sukarn explained that the bio-innovation offered for this project work were extracts of fruit and lemon peels using bio-stimulation mechanism to help reduce accumulation of nitrate and other harmful heavy metal substances. With application of bio-augmentation mechanism with water soluble, nano-biological fertilizer, the increase of vegetable growth and production were seen. Additionally, these innovations could also help reduce accumulation of nitrates and other harmful heavy metal substances, decreasing of fertilizer use, easing production costs per 1,600 square meter and definitely chasing away insects without using any pesticides. Since the application of bio-innovation was highly recommended, particularly their beneficially nutritional properties including primary and secondary nutrients, hormone boosting, growth enzymes, amino acids, proteins, and other insect repellent extracts, this action research project received funding from the Ministry of Energy to further design and fabricate bio-technology for the extraction of biological substances using high-pressure fluid technology (PLE) that could be implemented to help large-scale farming and thus nearby communities were very interested in the project.
