On April 28, 2020 – President of Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi, Asst. Prof. Dr. Sommai Pivsa-Art, RMUTT counsellor, Asst. Prof. Dr. Sirikae Pongsawat, Dean of Faculty of Science and Technology, Asst. Nipat Jongsawat as well as university administrators and faculties had given out the 3D printers for education (Model : da Vinci 1.0 AiO) and PLA 3D printing filament at the Office of the President, 1st floor, supported by xyz printer (Thailand) Co., Ltd. RMUTT as an organizer of FabLab Thailand Student Design and Engineering Project to develop innovation skills had been allocated budgets by the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA).
The university had announced to donate 3D printers to three educational institutes including Lopburi Technical school, Thepsirin school, and Banna Nayokpitthayakorn School through “Fabrication Lab” project (FabLab) as part of the ‘Big Rock’ project under the Ministry of Science and Technology. With urgent needs of hospitals and medical agencies, 3D printed face shields were rapidly produced to help health care providers and others in need during patient screening and treating in order to help reduce risks of getting infected by Covid-19 as well as to carry out various missions of NSTDA, universities and schools in the Big Rock project (FabLab Thailand Student Design and Engineering Project).
