RMUTT Collaborates with Agricultural Communities to Establish a Model Organic Waste-Free Village

Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT), through its Environmentally Friendly Materials Research Unit within the Faculty of Engineering, in collaboration with Bangkok’s Land Development Station, has initiated a training project titled “Model Organic Waste-Free Village (Zero Waste)” for the year 2025. This project focuses on transferring technology for processing agricultural waste to add value to the large agricultural community of rice paddies in Khwaeng Khok Faed, Nong Chok, Bangkok. The event took place on March 1, 2025, at the multipurpose building of the Environmentally Friendly Materials Research Unit, RMUTT.

The project features lectures and practical sessions conducted by Asst. Prof. Dr. Prachoom Khamput and his team, emphasizing the enhancement of community waste into community products using appropriate technology. This initiative builds on the earlier project “Expanding Appropriate Technology for Producing Construction and Decorative Materials from Community Waste to Enhance Local Economy,” supported by the Area-Based Development Management and Administration Unit (BUMT).

Asst. Prof. Dr. Prachoom also stated that the project aims to promote effective management of organic waste within communities, reduce waste volume, and generate additional income through transforming agricultural waste using suitable technology compatible with the community’s context. Moreover, it aims to strengthen grassroots economies and promote sustainable self-reliance, aligning with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, Goal 13: Climate Action, and Goal 15: Life on Land. This implementation not only reduces environmental impact but also promotes circular economies at the community level, ensuring food security and enhancing the quality of life for farmers sustainably.
