Column Fresh from the Youth: Student Ideas for Producing Learning Media

At Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi, (RMUTT)’s Art Galleries Building 2, undergraduate students of Visual Arts Department, Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, expresses and reflects and presents their creative unique artistic ideas on their media works integrated from their research and knowledge-based learning as well as internship experience.
Chairperson of Visual Arts Program, Assistant Professor Dr. Napapat Charoenpol revealed about media artworks of her undergraduate students that they were created in reflection of Thailand’s society, culture, and environment with the support from their academic advisors. Students were also given freedom to integrate their knowledge-based learning with internship experience to create creative media that reflected their true identities. 20 media arts and design which were exhibited in 20 booths, included design of characters for toy product and online animated characters, production of games as well as concept arts, movie productions for YouTube and other types of media. Hefty numbers of audience had been drawn to witness these finest presentations at the fair. Fortunately, master degree scholarships were given to the creators of the media as well.
Ms. Paweena Kovin talked about her animated online movie, “The History of Thao Thong Kip Ma and Thai desserts during Ayutthaya period” that her movie had been broadcasted in Line Webtoon with 16.8 million subscribers offering 2D animation that aims to offer young audience interesting information on the history of Thai desserts and the importance of preserving Thai traditional wisdom of dessert making.
In addition, Ms. Varinthanon Sitthiboon who is the creator of board game for 1st grade English language learners described how her board-game could be used for improving young learners’ English vocabularies, listening concentration, memorization strategies, and analytical skills as well as reading skills.
