10/05/2024The current trend that cannot be avoided is Labubu, the monster doll. Both adults and children alike want to own one, causing prices to skyrocket due to Labubu’s charm and cuteness. Assistant Professor Wichit Sonhom, Head of the Home Economics Department and instructor of the Creative Innovation Art and Craft program, along with students from the same program at the Faculty of Home Economics Technology, Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT), have created “Labubu-Style Thai Flowers.” This artistic creation of traditional Thai flowers integrates cultural elements and the Thai way of life, showcasing distinctive Thai craftsmanship. The Creative Innovation Art and Craft program teaches students to apply creativity in artistic works, using traditional techniques of Thai floral craftsmanship, such as attaching, arranging, threading, and sieving, using Thai flowers like the everlasting flower and love flower. This is combined with modern global flower arrangement styles to create fun and interesting works that seamlessly blend with the essence of Thailand. This innovative combination with the Labubu doll design, using Thai flowers, is an intriguing form of soft power that adds value and can generate income for floral artisans.
