Mr. Rachan Hongto, Mr. Attakorn Chanchana and Mr. Artit Poontawee, students from the Faculty of Engineering, Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT) has accomplished inventing the inventing garlic-size separator for use in the industry.
Dr. Jaturong Langapin, the advisor of this project revealed that the garlic-size separator is invented aiming to enhance the capability in function and reduce the time in garlic-size picking for use in the factory. This machine is truly used at garlic processing industry of Agrothai Union Co., Ltd.
The inventor said that the body of machine consists of structure components, size-picking suit, garlic clove input bucket, garlic clove exit channel, power transmission system and motor as a generator.
The function system starts from the input of garlic cloves into the bucket after that they will be transported to size-picking suit to heat them to have smaller cloves flown down to the holes of grating as their sizes and they will be taken to the exit channel.
The efficiency of performance found that it can function well at the speed of 20 rounds/minute, can work 167.8 kg/hr. The rate of size picking is 80.7% and the rate of electrical power consumption is 0.8 kilowatt/hour. The expense is at 0.2 Baht/Kg. Capital will be rewarded in 1.06 year and the break even point is 557.1 hr/year. This is a very beneficial invention for industry because it’s not only an efficient tools but it can be truly used.
