Technology has a longestablished history. It was originally established in 1934 as a primary school specializing in agriculture, known as Klong Rangsit Agricultural School. It offered a twoyear program for students that had graduated from Prathom 4. Later, it became a government sponsored secondary school offering an agricultural program under the supervision of the Ministry of Education.
In 1966, it was developed as Pathumthani Agricultural College, which offered an agriculture program for vocational secondary school students (M.6). Later, in 1975, it was transferred to the Institute of Technology and Vocational Education (ITVE), according to the Education act, and two years later, it was renamed as Pathumthani Agricultural Campus, under the supervision of Institute of Technology and Vocational Education.
In 1988, all Institute of Technology and Vocational Education campuses were renamed as Rajamangala Institutes of Technology under a royal charter granted by His Majesty the King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Therefore, Pathumthani Agricultural Campus was renamed as Pathumthani Campus under the supervision of Rajamangala Institute of Technology in accordance with the ministerial regulations of the Ministry of Education.
The Rajamangala Institutes of Technology revised its Act as per the National Education Act (1999) in order to legislate the Rajamangala University of Technology Act in 2005. The Rajamangala University of Technology Act amalgamated the Rajamangala Institutes of Technology as nine Rajamangala Universities of Technology. The universities took the key role of offering a tertiary education in science and technology in various disciplines, through diploma programs in vocational education, as well as Bachelor’s Degrees, Master’s Degrees and Doctorate level programs, especially for students from vocational institutes, including local colleges and basic educationn schools.
