10/03/2017Job from RMUTT Wins Swimming Awards at the 33rd UTK Games
Student representatives from the nine universities in the Rajamangala University of Technology system competed in this year’s 33rd UTK Games, hosted by Rajamangala University of Technology Krungthep (RMUTK). Patapong (Job) Premchit, a second student in RMUTT’s Bachelor of Fine Arts Program in Interior Design received five gold medals from the 200 M individual medley, 200 M freestyle, 50 M freestyle, 100 M butterfly, and 50 M butterfly. Furthermore, he also received two silver medals from the 100 M freestyle and 4 x 100 M freestyle relay, and one bronze medal from the 4 x 100 M medley relay.
Job attended Udomvittaya School in Pathumthani province. Job said that he started swimming because of his mother. She wanted him to lose weight as he weighed 80 kg at the time and decided to bring him to the Royal Thai Air Force Club for swimming lessons. Job competed in local swimming competitions, such as the Discovery Bali Hai hosted by Bali Hai housing community, receiving silver medals. The competition was a starting point and inspired him to become a professional swimmer. One year later, the Royal Thai Air Force Club selected Job to compete. He received a goal medal and was selected to be a swimmer for the Pathumthani province. Job continues to practice so he can qualify as an athlete at the regional level.
After graduating from Udomvittaya School in Pathumthani province, Job was accepted into RMUTT’s Bachelor of Fine Arts Program in Interior Design as part of a quota for athletes. Besides swimming, he personally enjoys drawing and interior design. However, Job would practice every morning and after school to improve body strength. “I would attend all my classes and pay full attention, but when it comes to practice, I would do the same as well. An athlete must be willing to practice and must not give up. With determination, everything is possible” said Job. He feels proud to receive the swimming award from the 33rd UTK Games.
