RMUTT’s 17th Muslim Camp

Students in RMUTT’s 17^th Rural Development Muslim Camp constructed bathrooms and ablutions for the Akmalul Islam Mosque (Wang Madua) in Aow Noi, Pachuap Khirikhan province as part of efforts to improve conditions in rural communities as well as gain valuable experience.

Mr. Raffin Dariso, a third-year student studying Mechanical Engineering in RMUTT’s Faculty of Engineering, and Vice President of the Muslim Club said that the Club organized a volunteer camp to cooperate with communities to construct bathrooms and ablutions for Mosques that lack them. From conducting research, Akmalul Islam Mosque is 30 km from the city center and does not have bathrooms and ablutions. Thus, the Muslim Club decided to aid the Akmalul Islam Mosque by organizing a two-week camp. There were 50 volunteers. Besides constructing bathrooms and ablutions, the club also organized activities to promote harmony as well as learning opportunities for local youth to strengthen their competencies as students.

Mr. Nawamin (Huseney) Jorraka, a second-year student studying Plastic Engineering in RMUTT’s Faculty of Engineering said that this was his first time joining a camp. He gained construction knowledge and how to socialize and help others. He constructed the bathroom structure and painted bathrooms, while locals supported by bringing food. Mr. Huseney feels proud to be a part of this camp because the Mosque is a center for doing various activities.

Ms. Ittha (Uproarn) Ruangprach, a second-year student studying Food Science and Technology in RMUTT’s Faculty of Agricultural Technology said that she joined the camp since its funding and donation period and could feel Thais’ generosity in helping others. Ms. Uproarn was responsible for managing food for the camp. She had to plan menus for each meal, go to the market in the morning, and cook – large responsibilities. Ms. Uproan says that she would definitely join the camp again.

Ms. Supanarat (Buddaree) Muhammad, a first-year student studying Food Engineering in RMUTT’s Faculty of Engineering said that she invited four friends to the camp. She was responsible for sifting sand. She shared her experience gained from joining the camp and convinced some friends to join next time.

Overall, a total of 5 bathrooms and ablutions were constructed, demonstrating mutuality to help in times of adversity, which aligns with the religious doctrine, which teaches everyone to behave well and adhere to the doctrine as a way of living, to be more moral and ethical, and create society of Thais that live peacefully and prosperously.
