RMUTT students innovate to extend the shelf life of fruits and vegetables, reducing spoilage and increasing value.
21/05/2025The workshop of the year from the Department of Textile Engineering, RMUTT, has returned with exciting activities allowing students to experiment with cutting-edge textile technology. Participants will craft DIY bags that are not only beautiful but can change color and are truly waterproof!
Associate Professor Sorapong Pavasupree, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT), stated that the Department of Textile Engineering has organized the “Textile Engineering WORKSHOP 2025.” The event provides students with a futuristic experience in creating ‘advanced DIY bags’, blending modern textile technology seamlessly. Dr. Nareerut Jariyapunya is the main organizer responsible for this event, which focuses on practical learning at every step.
The activities begin with personalizing the bags using Sublimation and DFT (Direct Film Transfer) techniques, which create exceptionally beautiful and durable patterns. The bags are then enhanced with the RMUTT logo screen-printed using Photochromic substances. This captivating technology changes color under sunlight or UV rays, reflecting an understanding of material properties applied in practice.
The Dean further mentioned that another highlight of this workshop is the integration of Hydrophobic technology, providing a water-repellent coating to the bag’s surface. As a result, the specially crafted bags effectively repel water, causing droplets to roll off without absorption. These bags are suitable for use in all weather conditions, representing an innovation that meets real-world applications.
Additionally, this workshop is organized for first-year engineering students progressing to the second year during the summer break. Students will rotate through 10 stations covering all departments, experiencing and understanding the conte of each program before deciding on their major in the second year.
The atmosphere in the workshop is filled with enthusiasm and pride as students bring their creations to life from start to finish. The event provides an opportunity for learning outside the classroom while broadening perspectives on rapidly developing textile technology.
