RMUTT innovative university” is moving forward, producing 95% ‘job ready graduates’
21/02/2021According to the Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) situation in Thailand, a number of people situated in Maha Sarakham province are tested positive for COVID. With concern for the health, and for the purpose of prevention and risk reduction of infection among university personnel and students having to travel, to work, or to participate in a variety of activities, Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT)’s lecturer from Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Assistant Dr. Manop Yamfang and his mechanical engineering students, Mr. Panupong Pooprae, Mr. Jongjai Chaijundee, Mr. Sayun Chumnanvej had decided to develop UV-C sterilizer chamber that could eliminate COVID-19 virus. Asst. Dr. Manop Yamfang revealed, “This UV-C anti- COVID-19 chamber can be used for disinfecting personal belongings including face mask, bag, etc. or household items such as spoon, fork, plate, or even cups. This same device has also been used for sanitizing university’s canteen equipment and tools as well.
“The benefit of using UV-C light bulb is to produce UV-C light that helps inactivate contamination on equipment, tools, or items inside the chamber. The working process of this sterilizer chamber starts by putting or hanging contaminated face mask on the top shelf while other belongings could be placed on lower shelves. Some other canteen equipment and tools could also be stored inside as well. The chamber is controlled automatically using timer for user convenience. In case, the device finishes its task, red light will be displayed by the controllers. “This chamber will produce UV-C light by UV-C light bulb which is being installed inside the device. Timer is responsible for measuring specific time intervals of more than 15 seconds”. Currently RMUTT is proposing the patent for UV-C sterilizer chamber. For those who are interested in the chamber, please contact Assistant Dr. Manop Yamfang, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering at 086-6634562. In order for visitors to be safe from exposure to COVID-19, safety precautions for Covid-19 is implemented strictly.
