Mr. Suphaset Chan-Orn, a university student of Telecommunications Engineering his advisor Mr. Phubet Saeng-Mahahad, lecturers at Department of Electronics and Telecommunication, Faculty of Engineering Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi who won a 2nd runner-up at the International Invitation of Optoelectronic Technical Skills in Chongqing, China had made their nation proud with the success. During the competition, technological skill and knowledge had been tested including assembling intelligent lighting system problem solving in Optoelectronic. Moreover, effective use of software application, the reduction of energy consumption during the age of global warming and saving installation budget were also introduced to let the competitors show off their comprehensive knowledge on the mentioned categories. In this competition, 9 teams from 9 different countries had participated consisting of China, Russia, Germany, Mexico, Ghana, Bangladesh, South Africa, Pakistan and Thailand.
Mr. Phubet Saeng-Mahamud said that the Faculty of Engineering had received an invitation from the Department of Skill Development to participate in the International Invitation of Optoelectronic Technical Skills competition. The competition was regarded to be very exciting and yet it could help students gain experience in skill and profession development as well as improve their English communication skills. Nonetheless, not only the contestants gained the knowledge on Optoelectronic but their advisors would also have their chances to learn and acquire up-to-date technology in the field. Currently, Optoelectronic had widely been accepted and well-known in the application of electronic devices and systems that source, detect and control light, especially in LED light bulb, LED monitor, and other electronic decorating tools.
During the competition, students were able to acquire new knowledge on Optoelectronics’ design and equipment that could be used for installation to the right location and at the right time. Analysis of Optoelectronics issues, installation and control of LED monitor, as well as design and installation of intelligent lighting systems had also been well-achieved by students. And thus, the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, RMUTT had engaged its practice courses that give “Graduate practitioners” to successfully develop their technical and practical performances. Having developed their prior skills, these Thai representatives were able to perform their best in the competition. They had accomplished all task assigned in the competition with caution and highly anticipated safety measures in terms of equipment selection and time management.
As for Mr. Suphaset Sanchan-On, a 2nd year transfer student of the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering major in Telecommunications revealed that competition was categorized into 5 modules including in module 1: lamp assembly and troubleshooting of supply power module and module 2 : LED color screen assembly and information processing must be completed in 45 minutes each. In module 3, production and commissioning of LED lights product should be finished within 120 minutes and in Module 4 Intelligent lighting control system assembly and Commissioning must take within 180 minutes and for Module 5, 120 minutes of implementation and commissioning of illuminating engineering installation was set.
The winner of the International Invitation of Optoelectronic Technical Skills were the Chinese team and the German came in second place.
