“Faculty of Business Administration” followed the traditional way of RMUTT notion led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Natrapee Chaimongkol, a Dean with her wide administrative vision and ability.
“Faculty of Business Administration” is a faculty that could be found in almost any university and college institutions with various disciplines and definitely very well-demanded in Thailand’s labor market. And thus, Business Administration, a Faculty as part of Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi, a university of Science and Technology would like to offer its bachelor’s master’s programs, and doctorate programs that emphasizes on teaching theories and applying them in practice
Assistant Professor Dr. Natrapee Chaimongkol, Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT) revealed that the Faculty of Business Administration, RMUTT has been established since 1975, with recognition of the fast changing world and technology, the Faculty had constantly updated its courses and curriculums responding to a changing world. The Faculty of Business Administration, RMUTT has offered its courses that are widely recognized at all levels, including the IBBA International Programs, Master’s Degree Program (MBA), and Doctorate’s Degree Program (Ph.D.)
“In the year 2019, the Faculty of Business Administration, RMUTT had The Faculty of Business Administration, Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT), has created a “Double Degree” signing MOUs with international universities. The “Double Degree 2+2” includes international Bachelor’s Degree in International Business Administration with Wuhan University, the People’s Republic of China, and international Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management with University of Derby. The “Double Degree 1+1” for MBA students is in partnership with the University of Northampton, the United Kingdom.”
Aside from continuously improving the effectiveness of curriculum and developing the new ones, Faculty of Business Administration, RMUTT also based its focuses on production of “graduate practitioners” who would be well-prepared to work immediately right after graduation. And thus to achieve the objective, Faculty of Business Administration, RMUTT had been constructing laboratories of business education consisting of an SAP software laboratory, investment and security analysis room, smart classroom for business skills and English communication as well as application of Arena logistics simulation software including GIS, and Microsoft Excel Solver software that would help students practice transportation planning and cost management. Besides, so as to prepare students for their career preparation, students were required to pass the Internet and Computing Core (IC3) Certification test in order to validate their basic computer proficiencies as well as passing TOEIC examination for professional assessment and being certified for Professional Standards and Professional Qualification in Linguistics from Department of Skill Development and Thailand Professional Qualification Institute (Public Organization).
Asst. Prof. Dr. Natrapee also mentioned that the policy on student’s work experience was not only to have students join cooperative education with leading organizations in the country, but also offered 50,000 baht scholarships for international student exchange programs and 20,000 baht for international training course for those who were lack of financial support. Additionally, students were provided funding to enter both local and international academic competitions as a way to make use of their acquired knowledge learned from the institution. All in all, students from the Faculty of Business Administration had received numerous honor and awards both internationally and nationally.
Creation of knowledge under the leadership of this visionary Dean wasn’t just stopped at the Faculty of Business Administration, RMUTT, but she also realized the importance of English language particularly when many of the Thais who were in the field of international trade needed English as a medium of communication. With the support from Associate Professor Dr. Prasert Pin Pathomrat, a former president of RMUTT who was currently working as a Thailand’s senator, he culminated in the signing of an MOU between the two institutions, New Zealand’s Auckland University of Technology (AUT), and Thailand’s Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT) to establish the education center under the banners of both institutions, aptly named Thai-New Zealand Centre (TNZC) at RMUTT Innovation and Knowledge Center, DD Mall, Chatuchak, Bangkok. In its initial stages, the TNZC educational method would focus on intense training aimed at improving English communication skills, including listening, speaking, reading, writing, and grammar usage, that will benefit entrepreneurs, students or others for whom English is a required language. Future plans include English courses for master’s and doctoral degree candidates, along with 6-12 months short courses emphasizing AUT’s top-ranking majors, which are aligned with 10 target industries specified in relevant government policies. There are also long-term plans to designate Thailand as an AUT education center for ASEAN.
In the midst of a global change, it was suggested by many that ‘Digital Disruption’ was one of the crucial factors that was leading businesses and educational institutions to failure. And thus, to survive under the current circumstances, every institution must be ready to evolve and improve. With curriculum development, modification of teaching styles, access to new knowledge as well as seeking cooperation from external organizations, the university would undoubtedly prove to readily cope with the time of Digital Disruption.
