Researcher of RMUTT acquired gold medal award from 27th “ITEX’16”

Researcher and Professor from faculty of Economics Technology, RMUTT, have been created a masterpiece of efficiency knitting equipment to improve productivity. Dr. Supa Churakhub, Researcher and Professor from faculty of Economics Technology of RMUTT, acquired an ITEX gold medal award from Malaysian Invention and Design Society (MINDS) and special award from Indonesian Invention and Innovation Promotion Association (INNOPA). The “27th International Invention and Innovation Exhibition” was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, organized by MINDS under the cooperation network with the National Research Council of Thailand. In this exhibition, researchers and inventors from public and private sectors, and educational institutions all over the world have been submitted their works more than 1,000 pieces. In explicit, there were inventions from 22 countries.
Dr. Supa Churakhub, creator of efficiency knitting equipment to improve productivity, shared that knitting with knit loom have been introduced in Thailand and it is very popular for Thai people. Most of the knitting equipment have to be imported from other countries which are expensive, made from nondurable plastic, and easily broken while knitting. In addition, it specifically was designed each knitting equipment for each knitting type where people have to invest on many equipment. In Thailand, many suppliers started to produce and distribute replicated knit loom equipment made from wood and nail. However, it is unable to adjust the size so people have to invest in many knitting equipment anyway. We perceived this information as an opportunity that is why we decided to create our own knitting equipment where we can knitting faster, knitting with comfortable, and working on various knitting type by using only one knitting equipment. It can be disassembled and easily maintenance. Furthermore, it made from household materials where people may make it by their own.
The device’s characteristic and component consisted of wood (leftover wood from construction is fine) nailed with 1 inch nail. Each knit loom equipment also consisted of 2 main woods with length 1.20 meter, and 3 size of each 2 woods with width 5, 15, and 30 centimeters. It also resizable with nut core and insert hole. Finally, it has a pin to lock tight the equipment while using. People can make it on their own. It can creates works more than 10 knitting type. It’s an innovative and unique product where it can be disassemble and easily maintenance. It has an organize box included.
This knit loom equipment is still on the prototype stage. It has been tested by specialist in knitting works, improvement and adjustment till it can be resizable for various kinds of knitting works. It can be shared to people who are interested in this prototype. Furthermore, it can be used to create various types of knitting works, created career, and even generated revenue. It also can be used for commercial activity because there still are so many people who interesting in knitting works. It could be sold in the market if we started to produce-+3 and distribute because there are some groups who are interesting in such as Bann-Fah-Rangsit Group and Arts and Technology Company where they started to ask for knowledge.
